The main character is Xiomara. She is a teenage girl from the Bronx, New York, that is struggling at home and her escape is her journal. She would write poems every day about what she deals with. She went to her first poetry class at school and learned to break out of her shell and she soon learned that she was really good at poetry and she wasn’t scared to speak up for herself. She worked through her problems with her family and continued to write poetry.



I personally like this book because I can definitely relate and it touched my heart.



Why I recommend the Poet X to readers is because it is a big influence for people going through things to explore different things to help them. Specifically poetry.
